Painting by Tom Lohre. From Tom’s website: The Who, 48” x 36”, oil on canvas, (1979). Painted from images taken during the premier of “The Kids Are Alright.” In just a few days Tom painted and presented the work to Clive Davis of A&M. He gave him tickets to the Who concert at Madison Square Garden. Tom had the painting signed by Pete Townshend on the back. The work was stolen and its whereabouts are unknown.

“What’s What With Who’s Bassist” - Merced Sun-Star - August 7, 1974
“Holding the music together on stage is what Entwistle sees as his role. He enjoys it and plays better when he stands still, so he stands still. ‘Once, early along our career’, he admits, ‘I became very paranoiac about girls not screaming at me. So I decided that I was going to move about one night. And they screamed. So I thought, ‘If I move, they’ll scream,’ so I stopped moving again.’”
Godfrey Townsend just sent me this picture that he told me about a few weeks ago…it’s John (and some fan…) but John Entwistle smiling ear to ear!
Godfrey wrote this along with the picture. “This might only be funny to you if you’re familiar with the old-time actor, Burt Lancaster…but, John used to do this smile and say it was his Burt Lancaster impression “
I am re-uploading this because I fixed a few things that I saw didn’t look right on the original…
i just need this greatness on my blog
